The Town of Walnut Grove, a code charter municipality, is governed by a Mayor and Board of Aldermen which are elected for four year terms.   The town clerk is also an elected position.  The next municipal election will be in June 2009.

The Town of Walnut Grove is led by Mayor Grady Sims.  Mayor Sims, a local businessman, was first elected in 1981 and is in an unprecedented  7th term in office.  He won reelection in 1985, 1989, 1993, 1997, 2001, and again 2005.

Day to Day operations of the municipal office are directed by town clerk Ada Chamblee.  Mrs. Chamblee is in her fifth term as Town clerk having been elected in 1989, 1993, 1997,  2001, and 2005.
